Scholastic book orders may be sent into class or may be ordered online. The extra benefit of ordering online is that you may use a credit/debit card. You can also order online but pay by sending in a check to class. Checks must be made out to: Scholastic.

Social studies: We are working on landform dictionaries. If you are behind on it, finish your cover, beach, and canyon pages tonight.

Field trip permission slips went home today after being left out of the field trip packet from yesterday. See yesterday’s homework post for more information.
Family Writing Night one week from today.
Book orders due next Friday.

Reading: Finish classwork stations for The BFG. Read 20 minutes.
Math: Finish division classwork.
Social studies: Finish beach page for landform/waterform dictionary.
Writing: Finish draft 2 of persuasive paper.

Field trip packets were sent home today. Students will be charged $10.50, parent volunteers who are selected will need to pay $7. Checks are accepted but cash is preferred. If you’re a parent who didn’t get to join us on our swimming field trip, send Mr. Arredondo a message on this post, by agenda, by e-mail, or by phone and he will select 2 parent volunteers for the theater performance. The packet seems to be missing an actual parent permission slip sheet so feel free to send in a note or sign the 2nd page of the packet and send that in! =)

Update 5:54p.m.: New event added to website calendar–Jump Rope for Heart on March 22nd. Kids will jump rope, parents can join in swinging a rope or jumping along during gym class at 9:35-10:20a.m. Kids will receive a Jump Rope for Heart Collection Envelope. Any students who collect a donation, no matter the size, will receive a new jump rope.

Reading: Read 20 minutes or more. Push for more than the minimum!
Social studies: Finish your Landform Dictionary cover
Math: Finish your classwork on multiplication (3 by 1)
English: You may choose to work on your second draft of your persuasive paper.

* HCS is having its 2nd annual Family Writing Night on Thursday, March 17th.
* Scholastic book orders are due on Friday, March 18th. Parents, you may also order online using our online code: GZV3T at http://www.scholastic.com/bookclubs
* Tomorrow we’ll be announcing the next field trip, a theater performance of ZooZoo that will be at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH on April 11th. Students will need to pay a fee of $10.50, which covers the cost of the ticket and the bus fees that we are incurring by going. We will also begin our search for parent volunteers, taking into consideration which parents were not selected for our swimming field trip earlier this year. Parent volunteers will be asked to pay the $7 cost of the ticket and drive themselves to meet us at the performance site. The students will be leaving HCS at 11:15a.m. and returning around 2:15. Students and parents will be asked to wear theater attire, i.e. “your Sunday best.”
